Jacky Workman - CE

Jacky lives in Berkshire on the borders of Reading and Wokingham. She is married and has a daughter and son.

Since starting work in 1979, her employment has had a financial aspect to it. Administration at an advertising expenditure company led on to working as a PA for a top producer at a well-known life assurance company. She then moved on to work for a German mortgage company where she pursued her sales and marketing career.

After years of working for an employer and juggling the family and work routine, Jacky decided it was time to move on and set up business working from home. With encouragement and loyalty from her family and friends, she now gets a great deal of satisfaction from the new opportunities that present themselves each day, and more importantly she has the quality time at home with family.

Geraldine Skinner - Sales Director

Geraldine worked in London as a PA for many years, then in New York for four years and then returned to London working at Bankers Trust and NCR amongst others. Having spent 25 years in the corporate world, mainly working for American companies, where it became quite usual to work for people one never met, she thought there must be some way to work from home in the same way and thus avoiding the dreary commute and the dreaded office politics.

She saw an article about the IAVA in 2001 and decided to call them and see what being a VA was all about. She found a client whose workload was very small and this client put her in touch with a client who needed full time support and thereby was able to finally move over to being a full time VA.

Geraldine has three main clients now which keeps her very busy and the work is enjoyable.

Geraldine is married and lives in Weybridge, Surrey with her gorgeous golden retriever, Henry and no children.

Marion Jones - Finance Director

In 1982, after having several years off bringing up her children, Marion returned to work as PA to an MD. In this capacity she also took on the role of Company Secretary responsible for the company's accounts. The job was varied and required the use of many office skills.

In March 2000 the company closed down, the MD having reached retirement age. At the same time Marion saw an article in the Telegraph about the IAVA and decided to set up her own company offering administration services.

In April 2000 she opened for business and, with the help of a few friends who had their own companies and a great deal of networking, managed to acquire a respectable number of clients, since when she has not looked back.
